The quadcycle was our first major welding project. It was an idea MJ had had in their head for several years. Though they did not know how to ride a bike or how to weld, they had a vision! In spring of 2017 Colin bought a welder and the time was right.
The quadcycle is basically two fat tire bikes welded together, side-by-side. The steering is linked (check out Ackermann steering!), but the pedals and brakes are independent. It is shockingly robust, and the center / rear basket can be used for hauling an additional (often injured passenger), or have a bar installed that a third person can bartend from while moving.
You can read more about our low-tech design process for the quadcycle on our Prototypes page.
